I arranged this combination of objects. The reggae king along with my book. Quite an honor. The first image has a wider aperture and the background is blurrier than the second. I was experimenting to see how much of the subject would be in focus in return for the background being blurry.
My friend Mike Toth is a great woodturner, and he was very charming in his support for THE ART OF HUMMINGBIRD GARDENING, wanting to have his photo taken with me. Our friend, artist Alain Andre Moreau, took the photo with Mike’s iPhone. Then Mike took a photo of me. It was fun, can’t you tell?
My book THE ART OF BUTTERFLY GARDENING will be out in the spring from Skyhorse Publishing. The second shot is more like an old-fashioned photo, a throwback to the old days of butterfly gardening in England. The third was just for fun. How do you make a self-portrait interesting?
