My advance copies arrived on my doorstep two days ago. This photograph was taken moments after I opened the box. It is always a surreal moment when an author sees the first printed copies of his work. In this case, I lucked out. I’m in my garden, where most of the photographs in the book were taken. This book will make a nice catalogue for my exhibition at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute January 13 through March 8, 2015.
I am listed on the email announcement just received, under Photographers. Nice company here with some great artists. The exhibition begins today and runs through December 28 in Jeffersonville, Vermont.
A photographer has to visit the camera store from time to time. Gintaras Korsakas was kind enough to take this picture of me with the cover of my book Backyard Bird Photographyon my computer screen the other day.”Gintas” is a professional photographer who works at Bel Air Camera, and he sold me the gear I used for my book. He also gives me great tips on photography as well.
For the Roger Tory Peterson Institute exhibition on Backyard Bird Photography to run from January 13 through March 8, 2015. This is the only square image in the show, an Allen’s Hummingbird. Thanks, as always, to my printer Luis Diaz of The Icon for taking the photo. The series of 30 images are all numbered 1 of 15.
Recently, a friend of mine printed out my Bald Eagle photograph on canvas in a large format and gave it to me for my birthday. It was a nice gesture. The eagle lives on. I went over to his house to check it out.
The nice folks at this publication have asked me to write an article for them based on my book Backyard Bird Photography, featuring two photographs, one of an Allen’s Hummingbird at an oriole feeder and one of the “blind” inside my house, from which I photograph the birds. Thanks to Lauren Burnstein, my publicist at Skyhorse Publishing, for setting this up for me, and to Ray David, publisher of Birding Business Magazine, for supporting my efforts. It will be in their summer issue. You can subscribe to this magazine at their website.
