Anna’s Hummingbird has a treat at the oriole feeder
He’s back, taking to the feeder as I stand nearby. There are numerous photographs of the Hooded Oriole in my book BACKYARD BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY (Skyhorse Publishing, 2014).
I received a package of the literary award winners from 2016, in appreciation for my support of this great organization. I’m looking forward to pursuing these writings.
He’s a happy oriole.
Joan is the President of the John Burroughs Association and the great-granddaughter of Burroughs himself. Thanks, Joan, for the gift.
Thanks to the North American Review and editor Jeremy Schraffenberger for accepting my essay (along with photographs) “Woodchuck Lodge and Slabsides on the Same Day” for their blog, to be appearing soon. These two John Burroughs residences are open to the public and are well worth the visits. Jeremy edited MANIFOLD NATURE, a collection of Burroughs essays.
