Looking at the photos
My friend photographer David Hume Kennerly came up with this idea for a portrait and I tried a few on my own. It seems to work. What a surprise.

“The Art of Backyard Bird Photography”
“The Art of Backyard Bird Photography” runs from July 2-July 30, 2016, including 20 bird photographs from my book BACKYARD BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY. I’m here at the opening of the show.
A few of me me with my prints and books, then friends and fellow photographers David Hume Kennerly (right) and Jim Stern, finally the Hermit Thrush in the exhibition.
James Lee Stern (center) and David Hume Kennerly, friends and fellow photographers, join me at the Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center for “The Art of Backyard Bird Photography.” David is off to photograph the presidential election for CNN; Jim is off in search of another trailer or boat to photograph; and I’m just glad to have friends like this. So nice of the folks at the venue to send out this email. What an honor to be displayed by the National Park Service.
