Another butterfly close encounter. Always a thrill.
There is nothing like being close to butterflies. This is my author photo for THE ART OF BUTTERFLY GARDENING, due out this spring.
Jane Johnson is the Communications & Public Programs Coordinator at the RTPI and she took these photos of my exhibit. The RTPI has done a wonderful job of presenting my bird photographs. I can’t thank them enough! For those of you who don’t know, Roger Tory Peterson was the greatest bird artist since John James Audubon, and I am honored to be in his company for this exhibit.
Sometimes, in the field, you have to take stock and gather up the energy for another round of intense, close-up photography. It is physically and mentally exhausting. The end result is only the tip of the iceberg as far as the effort is concerned, but it’s worth it.
