A photographer has to visit the camera store from time to time. Gintaras Korsakas was kind enough to take this picture of me with the cover of my book Backyard Bird Photographyon my computer screen the other day.”Gintas” is a professional photographer who works at Bel Air Camera, and he sold me the gear I used for my book. He also gives me great tips on photography as well.
Kelly O’Reilly, environmental scientist with the California Department of Fish and Game, gave a lecture at our meeting San Fernando Valley Audubon Society meeting tonight on the threatened and endangered birds of Bolsa Chica. Here she is with Dave Weeshoff, chapter president, and then a portrait of Kelly.
After the SFVAS board meeting, photographer Jackie Wollner was kind enough to take a picture of me holding a print of the book cover. The book probably exists by now and is being shipped from China.
Before the SFVAS meeting last night, photographer Dave Collins did a portrait of me holding a printout of my book cover for BACKYARD BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY. The book hasn’t hit the warehouse yet, but I understand a number of thousands of copies have already sold. This is a good omen.
I recently gave a binder with the photos from the book to a very special office, and I was there the other day and posed with the binder. The office is filled with great photography books, as well as some vintage prints, such as the one in the background of the Brooklyn Bridge.
I’m reading about Roger Tory Peterson’s involvement with the National Audubon Society back in the day. It’s nice to contribute to my local chapter by being on the board and taking a few photos from time to time. I also took a portrait of Scott Logan, owner of Wild Wings, the store where we had our meeting.
