FROM AUDUBON CALIFORNIA 4/26/16:

Yet another endangered bird is under attack because the habitat it needs to survive is prized by developers and other interests. This time, the Southwestern Willow Flycatcher has been targeted for removal from the Endangered Species List not because it’s recovering, but because it stands in the way of development.

Festival de l’Oiseau hummingbird photograph

My photograph of a Ruby-throated Hummingbird will be on display at the Festival de l’Oiseau et de la Nature, over in Le Crotoy, France, from April 9-17. It’s the Festival of Birds and Nature, for those who don’t know French. What an honor. I feel like a jazzman, appreciated on the Continent.

Filling up the hummingbird feeder for Woman’s World

Woman’s World magazine interviewed me

They are doing an article about hummingbird gardening and butterfly gardening. I had a nice chat today with writer Kristina Mastrocola of Woman’s World and it brought back memories of working on these books. She asked some good questions about how to set up gardens for the hummingbirds and butterflies and we also talked about photography. The article will appear around May 12 and it will be widely available on newsstands. I’m looking forward to it. I was describing to Kristina the wide-brimmed hat I wear to hide me from the hummingbirds, and I decided to send her this photo to show what it’s like. That’s me at my garden in Adamant, VT.
