GALAPAGOS BIRDS: READER’S FAVORITE REVIEW

Reviewed By Daniel D Staats for Readers’ Favorite

Do you enjoy nature? Do you enjoy seeing birds? Are you a bird watcher or want to be a bird watcher? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then Mathew Tekulsky has authored the book for you. It is called Galapagos Birds: A Photographic Voyage. As a photographer, Mathew tells his story of his and his mother’s trip to the Galapagos Islands in 2004 through the eyes of his camera lens. This book is full of wonderful photographs of all types of birds found in the Galapagos. There are birds found in these islands that are not found anywhere else on the face of the earth. Charles Darwin was so impressed with the variety of birds found on the Galapagos in 1835 that he developed his theory of evolution after he visited the islands.

Galapagos Birds is a wonderful book that highlights the great nature photography by Mathew Tekulsky. From Red and Blue Footed Boobies to American Flamingos, Mathew shares the wonderful world of nature found only in the Galapagos. There is such diversity on the islands that it would be hard to show all the islands have to offer, but Mathew does an excellent job displaying some of the most magnificent birds found on the islands. The text adds to the interest of the photographs. Mathew gets up close and personal with the various birds. He adds great captions to each photograph. This book will delight all readers who love nature and especially those who enjoy nature only found in remote areas of the world. Mathew has hit a home run in the field of nature photography.

With Robert Iger and Galapagos Birds

With the great Robert A. Iger, Executive Chairman of the Walt Disney Company, yesterday, and “our” book GALAPAGOS BIRDS: A PHOTOGRAPHIC VOYAGE! Bob wrote the blurb on the back cover of the book, which reads, “Mathew Tekulsky has a wonderful eye and a true passion for the beauty and wonder of birds, as this lovely book so clearly demonstrates.” I thank Bob so much for his support of my artistic endeavors and for his insight into the need for environmental preservation, which is the primary reason I have devoted so much of my life to photographing birds. This photograph of Bob and myself was taken by Bob’s son, Max Iger. Thank you, Max!

MLK DAY 2021 with Bob Iger and THE MARTIN LUTHER KING MITVAH

This photograph of myself and Robert A. Iger, executive chairman of the Walt Disney Company, was taken 8/25/18, with an advance copy of my novel THE MARTIN LUTHER KING MITZVAH, which was published in October of 2018. Bob was nice enough to get up from his morning coffee and pose with me and my book. I have never shown this photograph before, but on 2021’s Martin Luther King Day, it couldn’t be more appropriate, as Bob has been a leading executive in promoting diversity at the Walt Disney Company, both in its staff and in the great content it creates, such as the Black hero in “Soul” and the entire movie “Black Panther.” I am so lucky to know Bob, and he inspires me every day.

THE MARTIN LUTHER KING MITZVAH IS GOING TO THE I PROMISE SCHOOL IN AKRON, OHIO

Today, I made an arrangement with the I Promise School in Akron, Ohio, which is supported by the LeBron James Family Foundation, for me to donate 120 copies of my novel THE MARTIN LUTHER KING MITZVAH (Fitzroy Books, 2018) for the middle-grade kids at the I Promise School to read. Thanks to Principal Brandi Davis and to School Improvement Coordinator Keith Liechty for being open to my contribution and involvement. The books should arrive in about a month, in time for Black History Month! As they say, we’re all in this together!

The Martin Luther King Mitzvah goes to Harvard

My father, Joseph D. Tekulsky, established two Judaica Book Funds at the Harvard Library Judaica Division at his alma mater, Harvard University. I am now looking after these book funds. The Library has requested that I send them a copy of my novel THE MARTIN LUTHER KING MITZVAH (Fitzroy Books, 2018), which I realized qualifies as Judaica. It is an honor and a great tribute to Dad for me to do this.
